Columbia, SC – The National Weather Service in Columbia is forecasting a major temperature drop for Thanksgiving week, bringing much cooler weather to the Midlands and CSRA regions after a few early-week showers.

According to the NWS, Tuesday and Wednesday will see isolated to scattered showers, with highs near 80°F before a strong cold front sweeps across the state. Temperatures will fall sharply by Thanksgiving Day, when highs will only reach the mid-50s and overnight lows dip into the 30s.

The cold, sunny conditions will persist into Friday, with morning lows near 31°F and afternoon highs in the upper 40s to low 50s — marking one of the coolest stretches of the fall season.

Travelers heading out for Thanksgiving or Black Friday shopping should prepare for chilly mornings and clear, dry roads.
