Columbia, S.C. – A surge of unseasonable warmth is set to take hold across South Carolina, giving spring break travel a boost with dry roads and temperatures climbing well above late-March averages.
According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, South Carolina will see temperatures running 30 to 50 percent above normal from March 24 through March 30, while precipitation remains near normal but limited in overall impact. This pattern supports extended sunshine with only brief, isolated rain chances.
Across Columbia, Charleston, Greenville, and Myrtle Beach, daytime highs are expected to reach the low to mid-70s, with some inland areas pushing toward the upper 70s. Morning temperatures will stay mild in the 50s. Major routes including I-26, I-77, and I-95 are expected to remain mostly dry, supporting steady travel statewide.
Drivers should remain aware of patchy morning fog in coastal and low-lying areas, particularly near marshes and rivers, but widespread hazards are not expected. The warmer air will help keep roads dry and visibility generally high through most of the period.
For baseball fans across South Carolina, including those following the Braves, the opening stretch of the season should feature comfortable conditions, with lighter clothing likely sufficient even during evening hours.
This warm pattern is expected to hold through late March, with only minor changes possible heading into early April.
