South Carolina – A crisp, near-freezing start grips the Upstate this morning, with temperatures hovering around 32°F and a light frost forming across lawns, rooftops, and colder road surfaces.

According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, calm winds and clear skies allowed temperatures to dip to freezing early, creating patchy frost and isolated slick spots. While widespread ice is not expected, elevated surfaces may briefly turn slippery.

Across Spartanburg County, drivers along I-85 and I-26 should remain alert for cold pavement, especially on bridges and shaded stretches. Early sunshine helps improve conditions quickly, but lingering frost in low-lying areas can still reduce traction. Take it slow during the morning drive.

By midday, temperatures rebound into the low 50s as skies clear. The warming trend accelerates into Thursday, with highs reaching the low 60s under mostly sunny skies. By Friday, temperatures jump to around 70°F, marking a clear shift into spring warmth just ahead of the season’s arrival.

The weekend brings a dramatic change. Saturday climbs to 78°F with partly sunny skies, while Sunday surges to near 83°F under full sunshine. That rapid warm-up will increase outdoor activity and Spring Break travel across the Upstate.

Looking ahead, mild conditions hold into early next week, though a slight chance of showers returns by Monday night into Tuesday.
