Sumter, SC – A Sumter County family battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) received an outpouring of community support this week after a local resident and his family donated funds to assist with their ongoing fight against the disease.

According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, Randy and Dina McCall visited deputies earlier this week to express their gratitude for help they received during a prior medical emergency. On Monday, the McCalls returned to the Sheriff’s Office—this time as recipients of a gift meant to support them through their battle.

Dr. Kenny Rose presented a check to the McCalls, sharing admiration for the couple’s perseverance and the inspiration they’ve offered others living with ALS. The event took place at the Sheriff’s Training Center, where Dr. Rose was joined by Dr. Jayson Leach, Sgt. Fredrick Brantley, and Sheriff Anthony Dennis.

Randy McCall expressed deep appreciation for the gesture and presented Dr. Rose with a set of pens engraved with “Randy’s Battle,” symbolizing his ongoing journey and advocacy for ALS awareness.
