Spartanburg, SC – A prolonged period of heavy rain is expected in Upstate South Carolina, with potential flooding risks from Tuesday through Thursday. Residents should prepare for wet conditions, especially in low-lying areas, as a slow-moving cold front brings significant rainfall.

According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest rain is likely Tuesday into Tuesday night, with additional downpours Wednesday evening into Thursday morning. Northeast Georgia and the western Carolinas, including Spartanburg, could experience localized flooding. Winds will be moderate, with gusts up to 18 mph.

Tuesday’s high will reach 44°F, with steady rainfall throughout the day. Overnight lows will drop to 39°F. Wednesday brings another wave of rain with a high of 47°F. By Thursday, showers may taper off in the morning, followed by clearing skies and a high of 65°F.

Drivers should be cautious on highways, including I-85, as wet roads could lead to hazardous travel. Those in flood-prone areas should monitor conditions and avoid water-covered roadways.

Looking ahead, sunshine returns Friday with highs in the mid-50s, offering a brief break before another rain system approaches Saturday.
