Columbia, SC – Gusty winds will impact central South Carolina today, but a warm and sunny weekend is on the way. The National Weather Service has issued a Lake Wind Advisory for portions of the state, including Columbia, due to expected wind gusts reaching 30 mph.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory remains in effect until 8 a.m. Friday. Winds between 15 to 20 mph, with stronger gusts, could create hazardous conditions for boaters on area lakes. Those with small watercraft should use extreme caution.
Despite today’s windy conditions, Friday will bring clear skies and a high of 66°F, followed by a pleasant weekend. Saturday and Sunday will see highs in the mid-to-upper 70s, with sunny conditions across the region.
Looking ahead, early next week could see scattered showers Monday morning, with temperatures hovering near 70°F. However, by Tuesday and Wednesday, sunshine is expected to return, keeping highs in the mid-70s.
For those planning outdoor activities this weekend, expect comfortable spring weather with light winds and mild temperatures. If you’re heading to the lakes, be cautious today but expect calmer conditions by Friday afternoon.
