South Carolina – A strong storm system will move through the region late Saturday into Sunday, bringing heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. Residents in Spartanburg and surrounding areas should prepare for potential severe weather, including isolated tornadoes and localized flooding.

According to the National Weather Service, storms will begin late Saturday night and intensify into early Sunday morning. The main threats include damaging wind gusts up to 50 mph, hail, and a slight tornado risk. Rainfall totals could reach up to an inch, with heavier pockets possible in localized areas.

By Sunday afternoon, showers will taper off, giving way to partly cloudy skies and a high near 74°F. Winds will shift from the southeast at 10-15 mph, with occasional gusts up to 29 mph.

Looking ahead, Monday—St. Patrick’s Day—will be sunny and cooler, with a high near 63°F. Clear skies continue into Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs in the mid-70s. A slight chance of showers returns Thursday, but warm spring temperatures remain.

Drivers should exercise caution on I-85 and local roadways, as heavy rain may cause slick conditions overnight. Residents are encouraged to stay weather-aware and monitor alerts for any updates.
