Laurens, SC – The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a fraudulent website posing as a tractor and machinery sales business in Clinton, SC.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, scammers are using the name “Epting Turf and Tractor” to advertise heavy equipment online. Officials said the business is not legitimate and urged residents not to send money or provide personal details through the site or to anyone claiming to be an employee.
Authorities reported receiving calls from individuals in other states who have encountered the scam, suggesting the fraudulent activity is spreading beyond South Carolina. The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that anyone who has already attempted a purchase or shared financial information should immediately contact their bank and report the incident to local law enforcement.
“Stay cautious and always verify before you buy,” deputies said in the alert.
The Sheriff’s Office recommends checking official business registrations, confirming contact details, and being wary of online deals that seem unusually low. Buyers are also advised to avoid wiring money or sharing sensitive personal data with unverified sellers.
Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of this scam can contact the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office at 864-984-4967.
