Darlington, SC – Police in Darlington are warning residents about an active scam targeting homeowners, particularly in the Country Club area.

According to the Darlington Police Department, an individual identifying himself as Raquis Cactaro Tennyson has allegedly been approaching residents and offering pine straw yard services for what appears to be a few hundred dollars. However, once the job is completed, the suspect reportedly returns with additional individuals to demand payment that can escalate into the thousands of dollars.

Investigators say the man has presented a Georgia driver’s license to residents and is believed to be traveling in a white Ford truck with a trailer full of pine straw. Officials shared multiple surveillance images of the suspect in connection with the scam.

Residents are reminded to avoid paying upfront for unsolicited yard work and to obtain written estimates from verified businesses.

Authorities are urging homeowners to verify all service providers before hiring and to report any suspicious encounters immediately. “If you see this individual or have been approached with a similar offer, please contact the Darlington Police Department at 843-398-4026,” the agency stated.
