South Carolina’s Upstate is bright and breezy this morning, but the air feels unusually dry for late March. Gusty northeast winds are already tugging at tree limbs across Greenville and Spartanburg, and humidity continues to fall.

A Red Flag Warning remains in effect from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. for western North Carolina and northeast Georgia, including the Greenville–Spartanburg area. According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, northeast winds of 10 to 25 mph will gust as high as 40 mph, while relative humidity drops as low as 15 percent.

Any fire that develops will spread quickly.

Outdoor burning is not recommended. Even sparks from vehicles, grills, or equipment along I-85 and I-26 could ignite dry grass and brush. Residents should secure trailer chains and avoid parking on dry vegetation.

Highs reach near 60 degrees today under sunny skies. Winds gradually ease tonight as temperatures fall to 35 degrees with clear conditions. Sunday turns calmer and warmer, with highs near 66.

Monday continues the warming trend, climbing to 76 degrees under mostly sunny skies. By Tuesday, highs approach 80 before rain chances increase midweek. A 50 percent chance of rain arrives Wednesday afternoon, with additional showers likely Thursday and Friday.

Plan yard work carefully and delay any debris burning until conditions improve. Fire crews remain on alert through this evening as the warning stays in effect.

Sunday: Sunny, 66.
Monday: Mostly sunny, 76.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, 80.
