Lexington, SC – A 21-year-old Lexington woman has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting a man to death Tuesday night at a home in West Columbia.

According to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, McKenzie Leigh Brady is accused of killing 57-year-old Joel Todd McCullough. The Lexington County Coroner, Margaret Fisher, identified McCullough as the victim.

Deputies responded to McCullough’s residence in the 2700 block of Leaphart Road after a 911 call reported a gunshot wound. Sheriff Jay Koon said a witness told investigators they heard a loud gunshot following an argument inside the home.

Deputies obtained a search warrant and reportedly found a gun inside the residence. Sheriff Koon said Brady told deputies she had known McCullough for some time. Detectives described the incident as isolated and are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led up to the shooting.

Brady was taken into custody and booked into the Lexington County Detention Center. A magistrate judge denied her bond during a hearing Wednesday.

Authorities have not released additional details about the ongoing investigation.
