Dorchester County, SC – A South Carolina man was arrested late Thursday night after allegedly assaulting deputies and attempting to grab a firearm during a domestic disturbance call in Dorchester County.
According to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 11:20 p.m. Thursday to the 100 block of Dorchester Manor Boulevard following reports of an active domestic situation. Deputies encountered a male suspect in a bathroom who allegedly resisted arrest and initiated a physical struggle.
Authorities said the suspect assaulted deputies and tried to crawl under a bed. During the altercation, he also allegedly reached for a deputy’s department-issued firearm while it was holstered. Deputies deployed a Taser to subdue the man and take him into custody.
The suspect was identified as Hernando Auxilio Salvador, 30. He was charged with Criminal Domestic Violence – First Degree and Assault on a Police Officer While Resisting Arrest.
Investigators later determined Salvador was allegedly in the United States unlawfully. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) placed a detainer on him for potential deportation proceedings, according to the sheriff’s office.
Salvador is being held at the L.C. Knight Detention Center.
