Florence, SC – A Florence man was taken into custody Wednesday after an armed standoff with deputies, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office reported.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a call on Pine Needles Road in Florence on Wednesday regarding a man who had allegedly discharged a firearm during a domestic-related incident. Authorities identified the suspect as Joshua Stafford Poston, 43, of Florence.

Poston was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including two counts of pointing and presenting a firearm at a person, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He also faces two counts of domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, along with charges related to the threatened or attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction for an act of terrorism, according to South Carolina Code.

Deputies said the incident escalated into a standoff before negotiations led to Poston’s surrender. He was then transported to the Florence County Detention Center, where he awaits a bond hearing.
