Greenville, SC – Temperatures across the Carolinas are surging toward summer levels this week, with highs in the 90s expected Thursday and Friday for parts of South Carolina and western North Carolina.
According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, late spring heat and humidity will peak Friday, when several cities—including Greenwood, Spartanburg, and Charlotte—could see their first 90-degree day of the year. Highs in the upper 80s to low 90s are expected across Anderson, Union, and Rock Hill as well.
Charlotte and Asheville may not reach 90°F but will still see unseasonably warm conditions in the upper 80s. Forecasters say a few isolated mountain showers or storms could develop in the afternoons, but the best chance for widespread rain arrives late Friday into Saturday.
Drivers and outdoor workers should take precautions as heat indexes rise, especially during peak afternoon hours. Keep hydrated, limit strenuous activity, and check on vulnerable populations.
Temperatures will cool slightly over the weekend, but values are expected to stay above seasonal averages into early next week. Additional updates or advisories may be issued as the weekend nears.
