Charleston, S.C. – High tides are pushing water onto streets across the South Carolina and Georgia coasts this week, with flooding expected to worsen through Wednesday morning. Charleston is forecast to see moderate coastal flooding during both morning and evening tide cycles, while areas near Fort Pulaski, Georgia, face minor flooding.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, tide levels will remain elevated as astronomical influences keep water heights above normal. Forecasters warn that each tide cycle could bring saltwater onto low-lying roads, making some streets impassable. In Charleston Harbor, water levels may reach moderate flood stage at times, raising the risk of minor property flooding in addition to travel disruptions.

Drivers are urged not to attempt to cross flooded roads, as even shallow water can disable vehicles. Residents along coastal neighborhoods are advised to move vehicles to higher ground and prepare for repeated flooding during peak tides through midweek.

The coastal flooding risk is expected to continue into Wednesday, with additional advisories possible if tides remain elevated.
