Charleston, SC – A strong cold front will plunge temperatures across southeast Georgia and South Carolina’s Lowcountry early next week, bringing wind chills in the 20s by Tuesday morning (Nov. 11), according to the National Weather Service in Charleston.
Forecasters say the coldest air of the season will arrive Monday night into Tuesday, with winds of 5 to 10 mph making it feel even colder. Many inland areas, including Statesboro, Walterboro, and Moncks Corner, are projected to see wind chills between 22°F and 29°F, while Charleston and Savannah may feel temperatures in the upper 20s.
The weather service noted that this event could bring near-record low temperatures, marking one of the first significant cold snaps of the season. Residents are advised to protect pets, plants, and pipes, and dress in layers when heading out early Tuesday.
While skies are expected to remain mostly clear, the cold, dry air will persist through midweek before a gradual warm-up later in the week. Officials urge the public to monitor local forecasts and take precautions against frost and potential icy patches on bridges and overpasses.
