Greenville, SC – The flood threat continues today as heavy rainfall is expected in storms this afternoon and evening, posing a risk for flooding under slow-moving storms or in locations where rounds of storms move through.
According to the US National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg, scattered to numerous thunderstorms will generate excessive rainfall and isolated flooding. The heaviest rain is anticipated this afternoon, with storms potentially persisting into the evening. Areas highlighted in yellow on the forecast map indicate regions with a significant flood risk.
The forecast predicts average rainfall amounts to be around an inch or less. However, higher amounts are expected in areas with slow-moving storms or where multiple rounds of storms occur. The excessive rainfall outlook warns residents to stay vigilant and prepared for potential flooding.
The National Weather Service advises residents in the affected areas to remain weather aware and to monitor local weather updates. The risk of flooding is particularly high in low-lying areas and regions with poor drainage.
