Columbia, SC – Several flash flood warnings have been issued for parts of the Midlands as rain bands from Tropical Storm Debby continue to affect the region. The National Weather Service in Columbia issued the alert on Thursday morning, urging residents to stay safe and avoid flooded roads.
According to the National Weather Service, significant flooding, including road closures, is expected in areas like Sumter, Manning, and Orangeburg. The warnings highlight the need for caution, especially in low-lying areas and places prone to flash flooding.
The current weather in Columbia is 73°F with heavy rain. The forecast indicates a 100% chance of rain today, with temperatures ranging from 72°F to 79°F. The weather will improve slightly on Friday, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures reaching 93°F. Saturday will see a 35% chance of rain and a high of 93°F, while Sunday will bring partly sunny conditions with a high of 89°F.
The start of next week will remain unstable, with a 45% chance of rain on Monday and temperatures around 89°F. Tuesday and Wednesday will be partly cloudy, with highs of 90°F and 86°F, respectively.
