Charleston, SC – A flash flood emergency remains in effect until 5:30 a.m. EDT for Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties due to torrential rain and thunderstorms. The National Weather Service in Charleston reported that up to 7 inches of rain fell in some areas, with Moncks Corner particularly impacted.

According to Berkeley County emergency officials, swift water rescues are ongoing in Moncks Corner, where floodwaters have reached 2 to 3 feet. Dorchester County reports several road closures, including Highway 78 near Harleyville. Residents are urged to seek higher ground and avoid travel.
