Greenville, SC – A fast-growing wildfire complex has burned more than 10,000 acres near Table Rock, prompting a statewide fire weather alert through 8 p.m. Friday.
According to the South Carolina Forestry Commission, the Table Rock Complex Fire remains 0% contained as of Friday morning. The blaze is part of a larger wildfire situation across the state, with three separate fires actively burning and peak season conditions expected to worsen through May.
Governor Henry McMaster held a briefing Friday at Table Rock, confirming the deployment of the South Carolina National Guard to support containment efforts. Over 550 firefighters and 96 firefighting vehicles have been mobilized, with 612,000 gallons of water already dropped from aircraft.
A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for northern Greenville, Oconee, and Pickens Counties. The National Weather Service warns of 30 mph gusts, 20% humidity, and fuel moisture below 10%—all contributing to rapid fire spread.
Residents are urged to obey a statewide burn ban and avoid outdoor flames. SLED is patrolling evacuated zones to prevent looting and maintain public safety.
Officials expect the next chance of rain late Sunday into Monday but say totals remain uncertain. Trees downed by Hurricane Helene have further complicated firefighting access in some areas.
