Spartanburg, SC – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the NC foothills and portions of South Carolina through Sunday morning. Icy conditions and freezing rain may create hazardous travel, particularly in higher elevations and along vulnerable roadways.

According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, freezing rain is expected to begin late tonight, transitioning into sleet or snow in some areas before tapering off Sunday evening. Main roads, bridges, and overpasses may become treacherous as temperatures dip into the low 30s overnight. Drivers are urged to stay alert and limit travel where possible.

Looking ahead, temperatures will warm to 43°F Sunday afternoon, bringing rain to lower elevations and icy conditions to higher terrain. The area is expected to dry out Monday, but another rain system could move in by midweek.
