Charleston, SC — Motorists in Charleston and surrounding areas are advised to drive with caution as a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for interior Southeast South Carolina until 8 a.m. Wednesday. The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, warns that visibility may drop to a quarter-mile or less in some areas, particularly affecting I-95 and other major routes.
According to the NWS, these foggy conditions could create hazardous driving situations during the morning commute, especially around low-lying areas and rivers. Drivers should reduce speeds, increase following distances, and use low-beam headlights to enhance visibility.
Beyond the fog, Charleston’s weather will clear up later on Wednesday, with temperatures reaching a high near 67°F and breezy conditions from the northeast, sustaining winds of 13 to 21 mph. Residents can expect clear, breezy nights with temperatures dipping to the mid-50s. These cooler, clear conditions will continue into Thursday, bringing a slight chance of showers in the afternoon and evening.
Looking ahead, Charleston’s extended forecast shows mostly sunny skies throughout the rest of the week. Highs will hover around 67°F, and lows will range between 50-53°F at night. Friday and Saturday promise mild, sunny weather, ideal for outdoor plans or holiday travel preparations. By Sunday, skies will remain mostly clear with highs expected near 70°F.
The NWS advises residents to remain cautious with early-morning fog until the advisory lifts. Keep updated on weather changes by monitoring forecasts and drive carefully through any affected areas.
