Sumter, SC – Deputies are investigating a Saturday evening shooting that left one person wounded near U.S. 521 and Race Track Road, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say they received reports of gunfire around 6:58 p.m. and responded to a nearby business where they found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The individual was transported to Prisma Health Tuomey for treatment. Their condition has not been released.
Investigators remained on scene Saturday night collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. The Sheriff’s Office has not yet shared details on a possible suspect or motive but says the case remains active.
