South Carolina – A warm week across Columbia will end as a cold front arrives Thursday, bringing cooler temperatures over the weekend. Residents along the I-20 corridor should be prepared for significant temperature drops starting late Saturday into Sunday. Expect a decrease from highs in the 80s to a refreshing 70 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service in Columbia, temperatures are set to drop following a cold front that will move through South Carolina by Sunday. Highs will reach the mid-80s by Saturday, but Sunday’s forecast shows a cooler 71 degrees with partly cloudy skies. Overnight temperatures are expected to dip into the low 50s.

Drivers along I-26 and I-20 should be aware that the shift in weather may bring early morning fog or increased wind gusts. Light winds will begin on Thursday, picking up by Saturday, especially near open roadways. Travelers should exercise caution as conditions may change rapidly, particularly during the evening hours.

The extended forecast shows sunny and calm conditions on Thursday and Friday, with highs around 83 and lows near 50 degrees. While Saturday remains warm and mostly clear, the cold front will bring a more noticeable drop as the week progresses. Monday and Tuesday will continue to be cooler, with highs in the low 70s and evenings dipping into the upper 40s.
