Spartanburg, SC – A strong cold front will sweep across Upstate South Carolina tonight, dropping temperatures into the teens and bringing gusty winds. Residents are urged to bundle up and prepare for freezing conditions that could persist into the early hours of Friday.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Greenville-Spartanburg, wind gusts could reach up to 25 mph tonight, driving wind chills into the single digits. The coldest conditions are expected overnight, with lows near 20 degrees across Spartanburg. Areas in the mountains could experience temperatures as low as 10 degrees.
Friday will remain cold, with highs only reaching the low 40s and clear skies offering little warmth. Winds will decrease, but calm conditions will lead to another frigid night with lows around 21 degrees. Saturday offers some relief, with sunshine and highs near 49 degrees, though temperatures will again dip below freezing overnight.
Looking ahead to Sunday, daytime highs will climb into the upper 50s under mostly sunny skies. However, rain is expected to return late Sunday night, with a 40% chance of showers increasing into Monday.
Drivers along I-85 should exercise caution as freezing winds could impact visibility tonight. Residents are advised to protect outdoor plants and ensure pets are sheltered from the cold.
