Greenville, SC – Tropical Storm Debby is set to bring significant rain and gusty winds to the Western Carolinas today as it weakens while moving northward across the region. The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch and a Wind Advisory, particularly focusing on areas along the I-77 corridor, where the storm’s impact is expected to be most pronounced.
According to the National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg office, Debby will bring heavy rainfall and breezy conditions, creating hazardous travel situations, especially in flood-prone areas. Motorists are urged to avoid driving around barricades and through flooded roadways, as conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly throughout the day. Saturated soils increase the risk of falling trees, even with lower wind speeds than typically required.
The current forecast shows rain and cloudy conditions dominating Thursday, with temperatures peaking at 83°F. As the storm passes, clearer skies are expected for Friday and Saturday, with temperatures rising into the low 90s. Sunday may see partly cloudy conditions with temperatures in the high 80s, while a slight chance of rain returns on Monday with cooler temperatures in the mid-80s.
