Spartanburg, SC – A prolonged period of heavy rainfall is set to impact Upstate South Carolina beginning Monday night, raising concerns about potential flooding. Forecasters warn that multiple rounds of rain could lead to rising water levels on local roads, especially in flood-prone areas.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Greenville-Spartanburg, rain showers will increase Monday night, with the heaviest downpours expected Tuesday into early Wednesday. Northeast Georgia, western North Carolina, and the Upstate region of South Carolina will see the most significant impact. Some areas could experience isolated flooding, particularly in low-lying regions and near streams.

Tuesday will bring an 80% chance of rain with highs around 43°F, followed by steady showers overnight. Rain will persist into Wednesday with a 90% chance of precipitation and highs near 47°F. Another round of heavy rain is possible Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Drivers should prepare for wet roads and possible flooding on highways, including I-85 and I-26. Residents are urged to clear storm drains and monitor local weather updates. The rain is expected to taper off by Friday, with sunshine returning and highs reaching the mid-50s.
