South Bend Woman Killed, Two Injured in Parry Street Shooting; Suspect Arrested

South Bend, IN – A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting that killed one woman and wounded two others in South Bend.

According to the South Bend Police Department, officers were called to the 500 block of Parry Street on Thursday at 12:25 a.m. upon reports of shots fired. They found Jasmine Swanson, 28, with a gunshot wound; she was later pronounced dead. Two other female victims arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds from the same scene.

Through investigation, 22-year-old Rya Barnes was identified as the suspect. Barnes was arrested Thursday afternoon on multiple preliminary charges and taken to St. Joseph County Jail, pending formal charges from the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.
