South Bend, Ind. – Northern Indiana will enjoy mild late-summer weather through the weekend before a sharp cooldown arrives early next week. Highs will stay in the 70s and low to mid-80s through Sunday, but temperatures will fall into the upper 60s and low 70s by Monday and Tuesday, with overnight lows dropping into the 40s and 50s.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, there is a 20–30% chance for showers both Saturday and Sunday, with isolated thunderstorms possible Saturday afternoon. A beach hazards statement remains in effect for La Porte County, Ind., and southern Berrien County, Mich., through this afternoon as life-threatening waves up to 5 feet continue along Lake Michigan.
Drivers and boaters are urged to stay alert for changing conditions, while swimmers should avoid entering the lake until warnings are lifted. Cooler air moving in early next week may also lead to brisker mornings, so residents should plan accordingly if traveling or spending extended time outdoors.
The National Weather Service said additional advisories could be issued if thunderstorms organize this weekend.
