South Bend, Ind. – Northern Indiana will see a mix of sunshine and cool nights through early next week, with breezy conditions expected Friday as winds gust up to 35 mph.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, Friday’s highs will climb into the upper 70s, but gusty winds will make for tricky travel at times, especially on north-south highways like U.S. 31 and Interstate 69. Saturday and Sunday bring slightly cooler daytime highs in the 60s, with overnight lows dipping into the lower 40s across much of the region.

Residents in Fort Wayne, Elkhart, and South Bend should prepare for chilly mornings this weekend, particularly Sunday when lows could slide into the upper 30s in rural areas. Outdoor events will benefit from dry skies, though jackets will be needed after sunset. Farmers and gardeners may want to monitor sensitive plants as temperatures edge toward the coldest readings since spring.

Conditions remain calm into Monday with highs in the low 70s and clear skies. Another round of advisories is possible if overnight lows continue trending downward.
