South Bend, IN – A South Bend police officer was arrested early Sunday morning on an alleged domestic battery charge.

South Bend Police identified the officer as 35-year-old David Finn. Officers took Finn into custody following an investigation into an off-duty incident. He faces a preliminary charge of misdemeanor domestic battery and remains held at the St. Joseph County Jail.

According to a statement from the South Bend Police Department, Finn has been relieved of all duties while criminal and internal investigations continue. Finn joined the department in July 2022 but was already on restrictive duty for a prior off-duty investigation.

Authorities encourage any further inquiries to be directed to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office. Police emphasize that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
