South Bend, IN – A South Bend man died Wednesday evening in a motorcycle crash on Eddy Street, prompting a police investigation into the cause of the deadly incident.
According to the South Bend Police Department, officers responded around 7:15 p.m. on March 26 to the 500 block of South Eddy Street following reports of a serious motorcycle collision. Preliminary findings indicate the motorcyclist was heading southbound near Jefferson Intermediate School when he lost control and was ejected into a northbound vehicle.
Authorities said the adult male was the sole occupant of the motorcycle and died from his injuries at the scene. His identity is being withheld until family members are notified.
Police reported that speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details have been released regarding the other vehicle involved or potential citations.
