South Bend, Indiana – A round of widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms is expected across Northern Indiana tonight as a cold front pushes through the region, bringing cooler and drier air into the end of the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, rain chances are high—between 80% and 100%—with most areas expected to receive measurable precipitation. While storms are possible, none are expected to reach severe levels. A Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect through 10 p.m. Wednesday for La Porte County, Indiana, and Berrien County, Michigan, due to high wave activity and strong currents along the lakeshore.
Rainfall will taper off by early Thursday, giving way to clearer skies and daytime highs ranging from 66° to 70°F through Saturday. Lows tonight will dip into the 50s, prompting a refreshing cooldown after a stretch of muggy weather.
Drivers along I-94, U.S. 20, and local county roads should plan for reduced visibility and slick pavement tonight. If you’re heading to Lake Michigan beaches, avoid swimming due to hazardous rip currents.
Conditions will remain seasonably cool and mainly dry through Saturday, with the next update expected if additional alerts are issued.
