South Bend, IN – Residents across northern Indiana should prepare for a cool, calm weekend with crisp nights and a slight chance of rain Saturday, especially in southwest Michigan.
According to the National Weather Service Northern Indiana office, overnight lows Friday will dip into the 40s across the region, with partly cloudy skies and dry air dominating through Sunday. Highs during the day will range from 64 to 71 degrees, keeping things feeling more like early October than early September.
While most of northern Indiana will stay dry, a late-day sprinkle or shower is possible Saturday in counties near the Michigan state line, particularly Berrien and Cass counties. No severe weather is expected, but cooler air could create slick spots on shaded rural roads during early morning hours.
Lakefront areas like Michigan City and LaPorte may feel slightly cooler due to lake breezes. Residents are advised to wear layers, especially for morning walks, sporting events, or outdoor gatherings.
The cool pattern will linger into early next week, with no major warmup expected until midweek.
