According to the South Bend Police Department, officers responded to reports of shots fired around 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, in the 500 block of W. Colfax Avenue. Moments later, dispatchers received a call about a man down in the same area.
When officers arrived, they found 37-year-old Brien Franklin Jr. suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Police said Franklin was pronounced deceased at the scene. His family has been notified.
