South Bend, IN – The South Bend Fire Department is hosting a community blood drive this morning at 1222 S. Michigan Street, inviting residents to stop by and donate before noon.

The event, organized in partnership with Versiti Blood Center of Indiana, is part of an ongoing effort to boost local blood supplies heading into the fall season. Donors can visit the mobile collection unit parked outside the fire station and complete the process in just a few minutes.

Department officials say every donation can help save up to three lives and that blood donations are especially critical during periods of high demand, such as emergencies and seasonal shortages.

Residents are encouraged to stop by before the drive wraps up at 12 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, and no prior appointment is necessary.

For those unable to attend today’s event, additional donation opportunities can be found at GoBloodNow.com or through the Versiti Blood Center of Indiana website.
