St. Albans, ME – A routine traffic stop Tuesday night in Somerset County led to the arrest of three people and the seizure of large amounts of methamphetamine and fentanyl, according to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Sheriff Dale Lancaster, a deputy stopped a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado around 9 p.m. Tuesday on Webb Ridge Road in St. Albans. Three people were inside the vehicle at the time of the stop.
Investigators identified the occupants as Kelly Simpson, 59, of Dexter; Destiny Alton, 44, of St. Albans; and Wilmer Mendez Cuevas, 22, of the Dominican Republic. During the stop, deputies discovered that Alton allegedly had an active arrest warrant out of Penobscot County for domestic violence assault.
Authorities say Mendez Cuevas initially gave a false name and date of birth to the deputy. After further investigation, he was properly identified, according to the sheriff’s office.
A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered approximately 56.8 grams of methamphetamine, 52 grams of fentanyl, and 2.05 grams of crack cocaine, officials said.
Simpson was arrested and charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs (Class A). He made his initial court appearance Wednesday, January 7, and bail was set at $10,000 cash. His next court date is scheduled for June 8, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in Somerset County Unified Criminal Court.
