CARIBOU, ME – The National Weather Service in Caribou has continued Winter Weather Advisories for much of northern and central Maine, warning of heavy snow and mixed precipitation from Wednesday afternoon through early Thursday morning.
- 🌨 Snow Totals:
- Northern Maine (Aroostook, Northern Somerset, Northern Piscataquis): 5–8 inches expected.
- Central and Southern Piscataquis, Northern Penobscot, and Southeast Aroostook: 2–5 inches of snow with a light glaze of ice possible.
- 🕓 Timing:
- Begins early Wednesday afternoon and continues through late tonight or early Thursday.
- Heaviest snow expected late afternoon through midnight.
- ⚠️ Impacts:
- Snow-covered roads and slippery travel, especially along Routes 2, 6, and 11.
- Reduced visibility during heavier snow bursts.
- The Wednesday evening commute will be most affected across the advisory areas.
Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution while driving. Conditions are expected to improve early Thursday morning as the storm exits and colder air filters into the region.
