Columbus, OH – A complex winter system will move across western and central Ohio this weekend, bringing changing precipitation types and slippery travel conditions from Saturday afternoon through early Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Snow is expected to develop Saturday afternoon across parts of west-central Ohio, including Bellefontaine, Celina, and Dayton, before transitioning to a wintry mix during the evening. By late Saturday night, most areas—especially south of U.S. 30 and the I-70 corridor—will change over to all rain, melting or compacting any new snow that falls earlier in the day.

Forecast models show that snow accumulation will likely be limited due to the quick transition to rain, but brief slick spots are possible, particularly north of Columbus where precipitation may remain mixed longer.

The NWS warns that changing weather conditions could lead to rapidly deteriorating road surfaces, especially during the evening hours when snow mixes with sleet and freezing rain before turning to rain. Drivers are advised to use caution and check updated road conditions before traveling.

Temperatures will hover near freezing early Sunday before gradually warming, helping to reduce remaining snow and ice.
