Duluth, MN – Snow squalls and bitterly cold conditions are expected to impact northeast Minnesota beginning Sunday afternoon, creating hazardous travel along US-2. Residents should prepare for strong winds, with gusts reaching 45 mph, and snowfall reducing visibility to less than a quarter mile in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall could reach up to three inches in parts of the Arrowhead region, with temperatures ranging from 20 to 25 degrees Sunday. Wind chills are predicted to drop to dangerous levels overnight, with lows between -3 and +2 degrees. Those traveling or working outdoors should dress in layers and limit exposure to the cold.

Monday will offer a brief reprieve, with partly sunny skies and milder winds. Highs will reach 25 degrees, though gusts may still top 20 mph. By Tuesday, snow is expected to return, with a 40% chance of accumulation across northeast Minnesota, especially near US-2 and the North Shore.

The extended forecast suggests blustery conditions and additional snowfall on Wednesday, with highs around 20 degrees. Sunshine is expected to return Thursday, providing a much-needed break from the wintry weather.

Motorists should remain cautious, particularly on open highways prone to snow drifts and poor visibility. Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather updates and have emergency kits ready.
