Wilmington, OH – Snow showers are set to return to Ohio overnight, bringing measurable snowfall to several areas. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Wilmington has issued a forecast detailing the anticipated impact through Thursday morning.
According to NWS officials, the snow will begin late tonight and persist into Thursday morning. A weather model simulation shows snow moving across central and southern Ohio, including cities like Columbus, Troy, and Cincinnati. Accumulations will vary, with most areas expected to see totals ranging from 1 to 3 inches.
NWS forecasters highlight a sharp contrast in snowfall amounts across the region. Areas northeast of Columbus, such as Mansfield and Zanesville, could see up to 2 inches of snow. In southern regions like Portsmouth and Charleston, lighter accumulations are likely.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution during the morning commute. Snow-covered roads could create slippery conditions, especially on untreated surfaces. The Ohio Department of Transportation is preparing plows and salt trucks to manage roadway conditions overnight.
Temperatures will remain near freezing, which could exacerbate road hazards. NWS advises monitoring local forecasts for updates as conditions evolve. “Be prepared for slower travel and reduced visibility in heavier snow,” the agency emphasized in its advisory.
Snow showers will taper off by mid-morning Thursday, giving way to drier conditions by the afternoon. However, colder temperatures will linger into the weekend, keeping surfaces icy.
