Indianapolis, IN – After a brief warm-up, winter weather will make a quick comeback across central Indiana beginning Thursday evening. According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, moderate snowfall is expected Thursday night into Friday morning, with 1 to 3 inches of accumulation likely across much of the region.

Forecasters say a narrow band of heavier snow, potentially producing 3 to 6 inches, may develop somewhere across central Indiana, though the exact placement of this band remains uncertain. Areas within this narrow corridor could experience significant travel impacts late Thursday night and during the Friday morning commute.

Snow-covered roads are expected to lead to slippery and difficult driving conditions, particularly Thursday night. Visibility may also be reduced at times due to steady snowfall.

Residents are encouraged to monitor forecast updates as the system approaches, since small shifts in the storm’s track could alter which areas receive the heaviest snow.

The NWS advises motorists to allow extra travel time, reduce speed, and use caution on snow-covered or untreated roads.
