Flagstaff, AZ – Northern Arizona residents can expect a mix of cold temperatures, clear skies, and a slight chance of flurries this week. With snow levels dropping to 8,500 feet by Wednesday, higher elevations near Flagstaff and along I-40 could see light snowfall. However, impacts are expected to be minimal, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS Flagstaff office noted that while flurries may occur, “don’t get your hopes up” for significant accumulation. Travelers heading to areas above 8,500 feet should remain cautious as temperatures dip below freezing overnight, potentially causing slick road conditions.

Looking ahead to the five-day forecast:

• Wednesday: Sunny skies with highs near 52°F. Overnight lows will plummet to 20°F, bringing a crisp chill to the area.

• Thursday: Similar conditions persist, with a high near 50°F. Winds could gust up to 16 mph, making it feel even cooler.

• Friday through Sunday: Clear skies dominate, with daytime highs around 50°F and nighttime lows near 20°F. Light, variable winds are expected.

While road conditions should remain stable, those traveling I-40 or visiting Flagstaff’s nearby mountain areas should monitor conditions, especially during overnight hours when frost could develop. For hikers and outdoor enthusiasts, sunny afternoons will provide excellent visibility but require layered clothing to combat the cold.
