Boonville, NY – Lake-effect snow will continue to impact Northern Oneida County tonight as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Binghamton.
According to forecasters, additional light snow will bring storm totals to 4 to 7 inches in the core of the lake-effect band, especially across northwest Oneida County, including areas near Camden, Florence, and Point Rock. While snowfall rates have decreased from earlier in the day, steady bands will continue to drift across the region this evening.
Roads are expected to be slippery, particularly on untreated surfaces and rural routes. Drivers heading through the northern portion of the county should plan for reduced visibility and slick travel conditions, especially where snow bands are most persistent.
Forecasters note that lake-effect snow will gradually taper overnight as winds shift and colder, drier air filters into the region. Until then, residents are advised to allow extra travel time, reduce speed, and maintain safe distance between vehicles.
Road condition updates are available by dialing 511 for New York State.
