Green Bay, WI – Northeast Wisconsin faces hazardous travel conditions this weekend as freezing rain and snow move into the area tonight. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through Sunday morning, with mixed precipitation creating icy roads, particularly along major routes like Highway 41.
According to the National Weather Service, precipitation will begin as snow this evening before transitioning to freezing rain after 9 p.m. Temperatures hovering near 32°F will create slick roads, with conditions likely worsening through early Sunday. Travelers should expect a light glaze of ice in some areas, with patchy fog further reducing visibility overnight.
The advisory specifically affects northeast Wisconsin, including Green Bay and surrounding counties. Freezing rain may lead to several hundredths of an inch of ice accumulation, making untreated roads and sidewalks hazardous. Local officials urge drivers to use caution, reduce speeds, and allow extra time for travel.
Sunday’s forecast includes lingering rain early in the day before temperatures rise to 41°F, bringing some relief by the afternoon. However, patchy fog and damp conditions could still affect visibility for those driving later in the day.
Looking ahead, Monday brings mostly cloudy skies with highs near 42°F, followed by cooler temperatures midweek, dipping to a high of 30°F on Wednesday. Green Bay residents should monitor local updates and prepare for fluctuating winter conditions throughout the week.
