Everett, WA – A late-night burglary at a marijuana shop in unincorporated Everett sparked a vehicle pursuit and foot chase Sunday after deputies say six masked suspects fled a crash scene along State Route 9.
According to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 2 a.m. Sunday to a reported break-in at The Kushery Cannabis, located in the 5600 block of 134th Place SE. When deputies arrived, they reportedly found one vehicle used to ram the storefront and a second vehicle—a Kia Optima—occupied and attempting to flee.
Deputies and Mill Creek Police initiated a pursuit of the Kia. Authorities said spike strips were successfully deployed near the 17800 block of SR 9, though the vehicle continued for a short distance before becoming disabled near the 18000 block and crashing into a ditch.
According to investigators, six suspects wearing masks, gloves, and hooded jackets ran from the crashed vehicle. A King County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit responded to assist. Deputies say the K-9 tracked one suspect across a large property and apprehended a 17-year-old male.
Authorities later confirmed the Kia used in the pursuit was stolen. The teen suspect was transported to Swedish Hospital for evaluation. According to the Sheriff’s Office, he is expected to be charged with Obstruction, Malicious Mischief 1, Taking a Motor Vehicle Without Permission 2, and Burglary 2. All allegations remain pending further investigation.
Deputies are still searching for the remaining suspects. Anyone with information is urged to call the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 425-388-3845.
