San Francisco, CA – Snapchat users around the world woke up Thursday morning to find the app unusable, with thousands reporting issues sending messages, uploading content, and connecting to servers.
According to tracking site Down Detector, outage reports surged past 6,000 by 6 a.m. PT, with 62% of problems tied to the app itself, followed by upload failures (20%) and server connection errors (18%). Snapchat has not posted an official explanation, and its support channel on X only acknowledged individual reports without confirming a broader issue.
Frustrated users flooded social media, with one noting, “I did the update for snap then it started being stupid.” Many said they could open the app but quickly ran into bugs or couldn’t send snaps at all.
Snapchat does not operate a dedicated outage page, but its support document titled “Something is broken with my Snapchat app” offers basic troubleshooting. That’s little help for what appears to be a widespread service disruption.
No timeline has been shared for full restoration. Users are advised to avoid updating the app until stability returns and to check X or Down Detector for real-time updates.
