An EF-2 tornado with peak winds of 120 mph struck western Smith County, Mississippi, early in the morning of April 5th. The storm, which passed four miles southwest of Raleigh, left a trail of destruction, damaging a residential home, a barn, and an RV. Several vehicles and trees also sustained secondary damage as the tornado moved through the area.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, the tornado was part of a larger severe weather event that impacted much of the region on April 5th and 6th. Preliminary damage surveys confirm the intensity of the storm, classifying it as an EF-2 tornado on the Enhanced Fujita scale.

The NWS has not reported any fatalities or major injuries at this time but urges residents in affected areas to remain alert as additional severe weather may follow.
