Spencer, ID – The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a magnitude 2.7 earthquake in eastern Idaho, approximately 22 kilometers (13.6 miles) north of Spencer, at 10:38 p.m. local time (04:38 UTC Wednesday, November 5, 2025).
The quake struck at a depth of 12.7 kilometers (7.9 miles), consistent with shallow crustal movement typical of the Intermountain Seismic Belt, a geologically active region extending through Idaho and western Montana.
No damage or injuries have been reported, and no “Did You Feel It?” responses had been submitted to the USGS as of early Wednesday morning, suggesting the tremor was too weak to be widely felt.
Spencer, located near the Idaho–Montana border, occasionally experiences small quakes due to complex fault systems associated with regional crustal stretching. The USGS National Earthquake Information Center classified the event as reviewed and minor, posing no significant hazard to surrounding communities.
