Sioux Falls, SD – A stormy weather pattern is expected to linger across eastern South Dakota through Tuesday, bringing multiple chances for showers and thunderstorms before clearing midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, scattered light showers will affect areas mainly east of Interstate 29 today, with highs in the upper 60s to mid-70s. Rain and storm chances grow stronger on Sunday, particularly east of I-29, with highs climbing into the low 80s.

Additional rounds of thunderstorms are expected on Monday, with temperatures ranging from 76 to 81 degrees. By Tuesday, lingering showers should taper off during the day, giving way to decreasing clouds. Highs will remain seasonable in the mid-70s.

Drier and calmer weather is forecast to return by Wednesday, with partly cloudy skies and highs near 70 degrees.

The National Weather Service notes that while severe weather is not guaranteed, some storms could produce locally heavy rain and gusty winds. Motorists traveling along I-29 and nearby communities should plan for potential wet roadways and occasional travel delays through early next week.
